Job summary

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) in Wall Township, NJ, is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer – Bridge to lead its Bridge Department. The role focuses on complex bridge design, rehabilitation, and transportation projects across New Jersey and the region, mentoring engineers, and advancing technical excellence.

The successful candidate will guide project delivery, engage with agencies, and contribute to strategic growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; NJ/NY/PA or reciprocity.
• 15+ years of progressive bridge design and structural engineering experience.
• Advanced knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and NJDOT procedures.
• Experience with bridge analysis, rehabilitation, and evaluation; leadership ability.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for complex bridge design, rehabilitation, and transport projects.
• Serve as senior technical resource for bridge teams; guide design approaches and delivery strategies.
• Lead QA/QC reviews of bridge plans, calculations, specs, and reports.
• Oversee structural analysis and design per AASHTO LRFD and NJDOT standards.
• Mentor and develop engineers within the Bridge Department.
• Support business development, proposals, and client engagement.
