Job summary

DRMP is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer, P.E. to lead complex DOT bridge and infrastructure projects in Pensacola, FL. You will develop structural calculations and drawings, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to project success from design through construction.

The role requires extensive bridge experience, licensure as a PE/SE, and proficiency with multiple design tools and CAD software. A $10,000 sign‑on bonus is offered for the right candidate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer.
  • 10+ years post‑registration structural engineering experience.
  • 15+ years of bridge design and plans production experience across multiple bridge types.
  • Proficiency with bridge design software and CAD platforms listed.
  • Strong communication and teamwork; ability to mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop structural calculations and drawings for design‑bid‑build and design‑build bridge projects.
  • Analyze data and evaluate alternate bridge solutions.
  • Prepare written technical reports.
  • Support construction phase with RFIs, shop‑drawing reviews and problem solving.

Overview

DRMP is a fast-growing transportation engineering firm in the Southeast, seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer, P.E., to lead complex DOT bridge and infrastructure projects. If you bring deep experience in bridge design and rehabilitation — and want a role where your work directly shapes a growing practice — this is the right move.

We're offering a $10,000 sign‑on bonus for the right candidate.

Your Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop structural calculations and produce engineering drawings for both Design‑Bid‑Build and Design‑Build projects related to bridge and transportation structures.
  • Perform and direct engineering alternatives investigations through the collection and analysis of data, performing calculations, and evaluation of alternate solutions.
  • Prepare written technical reports.
  • Support construction phase of projects, including responding to RFIs, review of shop drawings, problem solving, etc.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers.
What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor of Science from an ABET‑accredited university in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer and/or Structural Engineer
  • 10+ years post‑registration structural engineering experience
  • Complex structures design is a plus
  • 15+ years of relevant bridge design and plans production experience, which may include reinforced concrete bridges, prestressed/post‑tensioned concrete bridges, steel plate and box girder bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, sign/signal structures, sound barrier walls, and other transportation‑related structures
  • Experience using a variety of bridge design software that may include FB Multi‑Pier, Leap Bridge Concrete, Smartbridge, LARSA, CSI, STAAD, MDX, Shoring Suite, Atlas, and the FDOT suite of FDOT MathCAD analysis worksheets
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, GEOPAK, OpenBridge Modeler, AutoCAD and/or CAD platforms to produce transportation structure designs and plans
  • Ability to do 3D modeling in OpenBridge Modeler is a plus
  • Familiarity with structural/bridge design process through the application of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
  • Ability to guide junior staff as well as participate in the design and detailing of all aspects of small‑to‑large‑scale multi‑discipline bridge projects of varying technical complexity
  • Construction specialty engineering experience is a plus
  • Experience with post‑tensioning applications is a plus
  • Experience with straddle bent design is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and time management skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and self‑initiative to meet client deadlines
  • Detail‑oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters (MSE/MSCE) in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • PE and/or SE certification in Florida or the ability to obtain Florida Registration
  • Familiarity with structural/bridge design process through the application of the FDOT Structures Manual and FDOT Construction Specifications
