Job summary

DRMP is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer, P.E. to leadDOT bridge and transportation projects in Greenville, SC. You will develop structural calculations, create drawings for Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring high-quality designs.

We offer a $10,000 sign-on bonus and a comprehensive compensation package. The role requires PE registration, 10+ years of experience, and strong leadership in bridge design and rehabilitation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science from an ABET-accredited university in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
  • Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer and/or Structural Engineer is required.
  • 10+ years post-registration structural engineering experience is required.
  • Experience with complex bridge design and rehab projects is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop structural calculations and drawings for bridge and transportation projects.
  • Lead engineering analyses and evaluate alternate solutions.
  • Prepare technical reports and support construction phases (RFI responses, shop drawings).

Your Primary Responsibilities will include
  • Develop structural calculations and produce engineering drawings for both Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build projects related to bridge and transportation structures.
  • Perform and direct engineering alternatives investigations through the collection and analysis of data, performing calculations, and evaluation of alternate solutions.
  • Prepare written technical reports.
  • Support construction phase of projects, including responding to RFI’s, review of shop drawings, problem solving, etc.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers.
What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science from an ABET-accredited university in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer and/or Structural Engineer
  • 10+ years post registration structural engineering experience
  • Complex structures design is a plus
  • 15+ years of relevant bridge design and plans production experience, which may include reinforced concrete bridges, prestressed/post-tensioned concrete bridges, steel plate and box girder bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, sign/signal structures, sound barrier walls, and other transportation-related structures
  • Experience using a variety of bridge design software that may include FB Multi-Pier, Leap Bridge Concrete, Smartbridge, LARSA, CSI, STAAD, MDX, Shoring Suite, Atlas, and the FDOT suite of FDOT MathCAD analysis worksheets
  • Proficiency in Microstation, GEOPAK, OpenBridge Modeler, AutoCAD and/or CADD platforms to produce transportation structure designs and plans
  • Ability to do 3D modeling in OpenBridge Modeler is a plus
  • Familiarity with structural/bridge design process through the application of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
  • Ability to guide junior staff as well as participate in the design and detailing of all aspects of small-to-large-scale multi-disciplinary bridge projects of varying technical complexity
  • Construction specialty engineering experience is a plus
  • Experience with post-tensioning applications is a plus
  • Experience with straddle bent design is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and time management skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
  • Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters (MSE/MSCE) in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • PE and/or SE certification in Florida or the ability to obtain Florida Registration
  • Familiarity with structural/bridge design process through the application of the FDOT Structures Manual and FDOT Construction Specifications
