Job summary

DRMP is seeking a Senior Bridge/Structures Engineer (P.E.) in Atlanta, GA to lead complex DOT bridge and infrastructure projects. The role includes developing structural calculations and drawings, directing analyses, and mentoring junior engineers.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program, a PE license, and 10+ years of post‑registration experience, with 15+ years in bridge design and plans production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science from an ABET‑accredited university in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer and/or Structural Engineer.
  • 10+ years post‑registration structural engineering experience.
  • 15+ years of bridge design and plans production experience.
  • Experience with complex structural design is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop structural calculations and produce engineering drawings for Design‑Bid‑Build and Design‑Build projects related to bridge and transportation structures.
  • Perform and direct engineering alternatives investigations through data collection and analysis, calculations, and evaluation of options.
  • Prepare written technical reports.
  • Support construction phase of projects, including RFIs, shop drawing reviews, and problem solving.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers.

Position Overview

Senior Bridge/Structures Engineer (P.E.) – Lead complex DOT bridge and infrastructure projects. The role offers a $10,000 sign‑on bonus and the opportunity to shape a growing practice.

Atlanta, GA

Responsibilities
  • Develop structural calculations and produce engineering drawings for Design‑Bid‑Build and Design‑Build projects related to bridge and transportation structures.
  • Perform and direct engineering alternatives investigations through the collection and analysis of data, performing calculations, and evaluating alternative solutions.
  • Prepare written technical reports.
  • Support construction phase of projects, including responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and problem solving.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science from an ABET‑accredited university in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer and/or Structural Engineer.
  • 10+ years post‑registration structural engineering experience.
  • 15+ years of relevant bridge design and plans production experience, including reinforced concrete bridges, prestressed or post‑tensioned concrete bridges, steel plate and box girder bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, sign/signal structures, sound barrier walls, and other transportation‑related structures.
  • Experience with complex structural design is a plus.
  • Proficiency with bridge design software such as FB Multi‑Pier, Leap Bridge Concrete, Smartbridge, LARSA, CSI, STAAD, MDX, Shoring Suite, Atlas, and the FDOT suite of FDOT MathCAD analysis worksheets.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, GEOPAK, OpenBridge Modeler, AutoCAD and/or other CADD platforms.
  • Ability to perform 3D modeling in OpenBridge Modeler is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the application of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
  • Ability to guide junior staff and participate in the design and detailing of projects ranging from small to large scale.
  • Construction specialty engineering experience is a plus.
  • Experience with post‑tensioning applications is a plus.
  • Experience with straddle‑bent design is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and time‑management skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency and self‑initiative to meet client deadlines.
  • Detail‑oriented team player who contributes to a positive work environment.
  • Valid driver’s license with an approved driving history.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s (MSE/MSCE) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • PE and/or SE certification in Florida or the ability to obtain Florida registration.
  • Familiarity with the FDOT Structures Manual and FDOT Construction Specifications.
