Job summary

The Charleston, WV office of Modjeski and Masters, Inc. seeks a Professional Engineer with at least 5 years of bridge design experience on WVDOT projects. The role covers design, rehabilitation, load rating, and project leadership on two major river crossing projects in Kanawha Valley.

Responsibilities include reviewing calculations, performing analyses with LUSAS and BrR, CAD development, reporting, and client communication. Authorized to work in the United States; hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited College or University
• A minimum of 5 years of related Bridge Design working on WVDOT projects
• Valid WV PE license

Responsibilities

• Review and check structural design calculations
• Perform structural analysis and design of bridge components using analysis software
• Develop preliminary details using CAD software and provide information to CAD technicians for development of contract plans
• Provide information for design reports
• Communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
• Prepare project-related documents and internal correspondence
• Perform and check quantity take-offs from contract plans
• Review and check drawings
• Use engineering analysis software such as LUSAS, AASHTOWare BrR, LEAP Bridge, MicroStation etc
• Able to learn and correctly apply relevant design specifications, including: AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, ACI, etc
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including field inspection assignments
