Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior bridge engineer to lead design, inspection and rehabilitation projects in the New York area. You will provide technical direction, supervise plans and calculations, and ensure QA/QC in accordance with DOT and AASHTO LRFD standards.

You will mentor multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with clients and agencies, and contribute to business development through proposals and meetings. A PE license and NBIS certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of bridge design experience.
• Experience with state DOT standards.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• NBIS or equivalent bridge inspection certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver bridge projects including design, inspection, repair and rehabilitation.
• Provide technical direction and oversee plans, calculations, specs, and QA/QC per DOT and AASHTO LRFD.
• Apply bridge design/analysis expertise using listed software tools.
• Manage concurrent projects with accountability for delivery, schedule, budget and risk.
• Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams including junior engineers and CAD techs.
• Perform and oversee bridge inspections and load ratings.
• Deliver reports and actionable recommendations aligned with regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with internal teams, clients, DOTs, municipalities, contractors and external stakeholders.
• Support business development through proposals, scope/fee development, client engagement and conferences.

Job description
