Job summary

WSB in the United States seeks a Senior Bridge Design Engineer to join our team focused on FDOT projects and complex transportation structures. This role offers the chance to influence design through collaboration across disciplines with Florida-based project exposure and nationwide assignments.

The position requires a FL PE license, 3+ years FDOT bridge experience, ABET-accredited degree, and proficiency in Midas Civil, OpenBridge, MDX, MicroStation, and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• 3+ years of FDOT bridge project experience.
• Professional Engineer license in Florida with 6+ years of experience.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software and detailing tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural calculations, modeling, analysis and design.
• Prepare plans, specs, and construction cost estimates.
• Lead multi-disciplinary projects from proposal to construction.
• Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs.
• Develop and review reports, studies, and engineering solutions.
• Provide technical assistance to clients, officials, and contractors.
• Deliver professional presentations.
• Participate in client and team meetings.
• Quality review of calculations and documents; stay current with practice.

What you will do:

• Perform structural calculations, modeling, analysis, and design
• Prepare contract documents including plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates
• Manage and lead multi-disciplinary projects from proposal stage, through design, and design services during construction
• Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs
• Develop, prepare and review reports and studies to identify and recommend engineering solutions
• Conducts engineering research and provides technical assistance to consulting engineer, contractors, public officials, municipalities, and others as needed
• Deliver professional presentations
• Participation in meetings with clients and project team members
• Conduct quality review of structural calculations and contract documents
• Stay up-to-date with the state of practice, and integrate innovation and technology in design

What you will bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, or structural engineering is required from an ABET accredited university
• 3+ years of experience working on FDOT Bridge projects (state or local agency)
• Professional Engineer’s licenses in Floridawith 6+ years of experience
• Proficiency in structural analysis programs such as Midas Civil and familiarity with industry software such as Bentley OpenBridge, AASHTOWare Bridge Rating, and MDX
• Proficiency in structural detailing in MicroStation and AutoCAD
• Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
• Enthusiastic, can-do attitude, and strong team work ethic
• Good organization skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a project team and exercise independent initiative
• Ability to work 40 hours a week
• Work is primarily performed in an office environment with standard office equipment, occasional travel or field visits may be required to support
• Open to remote candidates residing in Florida, with experience working on FDOT projects
