Senior Bridge Construction Inspector
Location: Portland, Augusta or Eliot, ME, or Merrimack, NH.
Responsibilities
- Oversee new, replacement, or rehabilitated structures with construction values ranging from $1-$50 million.
- Oversee work elements including excavation, backfilling, compaction, cast-in-place concrete from formwork to reinforcement, installation of precast elements, bridge seats, bearings and joints, bridge rail, drainage, and other incidental items.
- Report to the Resident Engineer and, depending on experience, act as their representative.
- Interfacing with contractors and attending meetings.
- Mentoring or supervising other inspectors on behalf of resident engineer or project manager.
- Complete daily reports, measure and calculate unit price quantities.
- Coordinate independent material sampling and testing.
- Monitor maintenance of traffic.
- Take and compile photographs, for tracking of daily progress.
- Help update red‑line drawings using Bluebeam.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- 9 years applicable experience.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, design plans and specifications.
- Valid driver's license.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or related field.
- ACI or NETTCP certifications, or ability to attain within 3‑months of hiring.
- Average proficiency with MS WORD Suite.
- Hands‑on experience with construction management software such as Site or Field Manager, APPIA, Procore, IPD or similar systems. Knowledge of Bluebeam.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills.
- Any combination of college education, professional licenses, certifications and experience will be considered.
