Job description

Senior Bridge Construction Inspector

Location: Portland, Augusta or Eliot, ME, or Merrimack, NH.

Responsibilities

• Oversee new, replacement, or rehabilitated structures with construction values ranging from $1-$50 million.
• Oversee work elements including excavation, backfilling, compaction, cast-in-place concrete from formwork to reinforcement, installation of precast elements, bridge seats, bearings and joints, bridge rail, drainage, and other incidental items.
• Report to the Resident Engineer and, depending on experience, act as their representative.
• Interfacing with contractors and attending meetings.
• Mentoring or supervising other inspectors on behalf of resident engineer or project manager.
• Complete daily reports, measure and calculate unit price quantities.
• Coordinate independent material sampling and testing.
• Monitor maintenance of traffic.
• Take and compile photographs, for tracking of daily progress.
• Help update red‑line drawings using Bluebeam.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• 9 years applicable experience.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, design plans and specifications.
• Valid driver's license.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or related field.
• ACI or NETTCP certifications, or ability to attain within 3‑months of hiring.
• Average proficiency with MS WORD Suite.
• Hands‑on experience with construction management software such as Site or Field Manager, APPIA, Procore, IPD or similar systems. Knowledge of Bluebeam.
• Demonstrated supervisory skills.
• Any combination of college education, professional licenses, certifications and experience will be considered.
