Job summary

Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE) Houston seeks a senior Structural Engineer (Associate Principal) to lead bridge and civil infrastructure investigations, design, and rehabilitation projects.

You will manage client expectations, mentor a team of engineers, and contribute to business development within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. You will work directly with clients, contractors, and consultants, with access to mentorship from senior leaders, and benefit from WJE's

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas or ability to obtain by comity; SE licensure a plus
• Master's degree or PhD in civil/structural engineering; relevant experience may substitute
• 15+ years in structural engineering with bridge/civil infrastructure expertise and project management
• Proven business development and client relationship skills
• Established regional network, with TxDOT collaboration experience
• Excellent technical, graphical, written, and verbal communication skills
• Preferred certifications: NHI bridge inspection courses; precertification in bridge design with DOTs

Responsibilities

• Project management: client development, scoping, team assembly, schedules, budgets, and deliverables
• Technical leadership: SME for structural/bridge engineering; design, analysis, repairs, and fieldwork; client deliverables and reviews
• Mentorship: knowledge sharing locally and company-wide on projects and career development
• Contributions to Civil Infrastructure practice: foster client relationships, training, and industry involvement
