Job summary

Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE) seeks a senior Structural Engineer (Associate Principal) in Texas to lead bridge and civil infrastructure projects. You will manage investigations, design, and rehabilitation with direct client interaction and mentorship from senior leaders.

You will leverage established relationships with clients and DOTs, contribute to business development, and help shape WJE's Civil Infrastructure practice while maintaining technical excellence and project delivery.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas or eligibility by comity.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant structural engineering experience across bridge and civil infrastructure.
• Demonstrated business development and client relationship skills.
• Established regional network, including work with state DOTs (e.g., TxDOT).
• Excellent technical, graphical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Preferred certifications: NHI Bridge Inspection & Design precertifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural investigations, diagnostics, design, and rehabilitation projects for bridges and critical infrastructure.
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and client expectations; mentor project teams.
• Provide technical leadership and reviews; collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
• Develop and pursue client relationships and project opportunities.
