Job summary

SR Staffing in Shelton, CT is seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our Client Accounting Services (CAS) team. You will manage day-to-day bookkeeping for multiple client accounts, maintain accurate records, and support payroll, tax, and financial reporting functions.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in bookkeeping within a CPA firm or outsourced accounting environment, with advanced QuickBooks Online skills and a strong cash- and accrual-basis accounting foundation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• Minimum of 4 years of bookkeeping or client accounting experience
• Experience within a public accounting, CPA firm, or outsourced accounting environment is strongly preferred
• Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online
• Strong understanding of cash-basis and accrual-basis accounting
• Experience with payroll, sales tax filings, and year-end reporting

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting functions for multiple client accounts
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely transaction processing
• Reconcile bank, credit card, and other balance sheet accounts
• Prepare adjusting journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Support client Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) activities
• Process payroll and assist with payroll tax reporting and year-end filings
• Prepare and file sales and use tax returns
• Generate financial reports and assist clients with financial record maintenance
• Work directly with clients to address bookkeeping questions and accounting needs
• Assist with accounting software setup, integrations, and process improvements
• Collaborate with tax and accounting professionals to support tax preparation and compliance efforts
• Participate in special projects and client advisory initiatives as needed
