Hachette Book Group seeks a Senior Production Associate to oversee manufacturing of adult and children’s titles in hardcover and paperback, coordinating with Editorial, Design, and printers to meet ambitious timelines and budgets. Qualifications

• College degree or relevant work experience.
• 3-5 years experience in 1/color print book manufacturing with domestic and overseas suppliers.
• Effective and efficient vendor management skills.
• Proficiency in Excel, InDesign and Acrobat.
• Creative, highly organized and detail oriented.
• Flexible and able to prioritize in a high-volume environment.
• Self-starter who collaborates with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with digital asset management systems.

Responsibilities

• Proactively monitor production schedules and coordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure on-time delivery.
• Supervise vendors to meet schedule, quality, and budget requirements amid shifting timelines.
• Perform cost estimation, preflight, proof trafficking, and color assessment tasks.
• Prepare and update budgets and cost estimates for seasons and titles.
• Create purchase orders and shipping instructions from the title management system.
• Attend and participate in weekly production meetings.
• Analyze production specs to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Communicate issues to the Senior Manager and vendors accordingly.
• Maintain accurate specification and scheduling data in databases.
• Handle additional duties and special projects as assigned.
