Job summary

Slate is seeking a Senior Body Closures Design Responsible Engineer (DRE) in Troy, Michigan. You will lead the design and development of body closures and closure assemblies—doors, hoods, liftgates, and related mechanisms.

You will own exterior components from concept through launch, ensuring manufacturability and production readiness, while meeting performance, cost, mass, and timing targets.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5+ years of vehicle design experience focusing on body closures.
• Experience with manufacturing processes such as injection molding, die casting, and stampings.
• Knowledge of NHTSA/FMVSS requirements applicable to body closures.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of body closures and closure assemblies.
• Own exterior components from concept through launch, ensuring manufacturability and production readiness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams, external partners and suppliers to meet program requirements.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable NHTSA and FMVSS regulations; support reviews and continuous improvement.
