Job summary

Belcan in Berkeley, CA seeks a Test Engineer, BMS Hardware to execute design verification testing for our battery management system hardware. You will work on component and system-level tests with 5+ years in hardware testing, preferably in battery/automotive contexts.

Responsibilities include developing test plans, performing functional and environmental tests, analyzing data, and collaborating with hardware, firmware, and systems engineers to ensure safe, reliable operation of the BMS hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
• 5+ years of hardware testing experience in battery systems, automotive, or energy storage.
• 2+ years of firmware verification using Python for HIL testing and driver-level debugging.
• Strong understanding of BMS architectures, analog/digital circuits, and embedded interfaces (CAN, SPI, I2C, UART).

Responsibilities

• Ensure BMS electronics meet functional, reliability, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and systems engineers to validate designs for safe operation.
• Develop test plans and verification protocols aligned with requirements and specs.
• Execute functional, reliability, and environmental tests on BMS PCBAs and integrated systems.
• Define and document test configurations, instrumentation, and setup requirements.
• Analyze test data and generate detailed reports with findings and recommendations.
• Collaborate to troubleshoot hardware issues identified during testing.
• Contribute to test automation and infrastructure to improve repeatability.
• Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and results.
• Support design verification reviews and test readiness.
• Ensure tests comply with safety protocols and industry standards.
