Job summary

Austin Powder is seeking a responsible blasting supervisor to oversee field operations at customer sites in Texas, ensuring safe blasting practices and regulatory compliance. You will review patterns, prepare blast areas, and supervise crews while maintaining strong customer relationships.

Required are minimum 5 years of blasting experience, relevant certifications, and a valid CDL Class A with hazmat preferred.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent (GED) degree.
• Minimum 5 years of certified blasting experience.
• Must be technically capable of blasting any quarry or mine serviced by the location.
• Certifications on hire or within 12 months: Austin Powder Company Blasting Certification; State Blaster’s License.
• CDL Class A with Hazmat endorsements – preferred.
• MSHA Safety.
• First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by complying with MSHA, OSHA, ATF, and DOT regulations within the work area.
• Reviews drill patterns and diagrams, determines product and shot layout necessary to meet customer needs.
• Prepares designated area for blasting including verification of blast shelter, blast equipment, drill pattern stemming, face, and blast area.
• Supervises personnel at the customer site/blast area.
• Develops and maintains positive relationships with the customer base to increase market share and control costs.
• Communicates blast details with all personnel on job site and prepares detonation.
• Conducts Pre/Post Shot Safety Audit at every shot service event.
• Completes necessary paperwork/shot report documentation per Austin Powder policy.
• Ensures Austin Powder is compliant with customers’ policies/procedures.
• Coordinates handling of customer issues, blast area incidents, and public concerns with APC personnel.
• Communicates regularly with the sales representative and/or Location Manager regarding customer accounts.
• Complies with Austin Powder inventory procedures.
• Completes and maintains paperwork or software as required by policies and DOT or other agencies.
• Maintains working knowledge of vehicles and equipment used in shot service.
• Manages daily operations to keep assets safe and efficient at the customer site.
• Other duties as assigned.
