Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in Rahway, NJ, seeks an experienced Statistical Programmer to develop, validate, and maintain statistical programs for clinical and research data.

You will work with statisticians, data managers, and clinical teams to ensure high-quality, reproducible outputs that meet industry standards. You will design TLFs, datasets, and figures, support data cleaning, review study protocols, and ensure alignment with regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, or related field.
• At least 5 years of statistical programming experience in pharma, biotech, or CRO.
• Strong proficiency in SAS, R, and Excel.
• Good understanding of data structures, statistical methods, and analysis workflows.
• Experience leading programming activities.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements from CVM/EMA/USDA.
• Familiarity with EDC systems such as Prelude and/or Medrio is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate statistical programs using SAS and R.
• Create analysis datasets, tables, listings, and figures per study requirements.
• Support data cleaning, transformation, and quality control processes.
• Review study protocols and data specifications to ensure programming needs are met.
• Perform validation checks and ensure compliance with SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
• Collaborate with statisticians, data managers, project managers, clinical and regulatory teams.
• Troubleshoot programming issues and support project timelines.
• Maintain documentation of code and processes; contribute to standardization of repetitive tasks.
• Participate in study team activities as needed.
