Job summary

3key Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Bioprocess Equipment Engineer for a 1+ year contract at Thousand Oaks Pilot Plant.

You will own reliability and lifecycle management of bioreactor and skid systems, provide onsite support to Operations, and apply data-driven decision making to troubleshoot issues. Responsibilities include leading preventive maintenance, integrating new equipment, and exploring AI-enabled tools to improve troubleshooting and workflow.

Qualifications

• Doctorate or master's degree with required experience
• Experience in pharmaceutical/biopharma engineering preferred
• Experience applying AI workflows or AI-enabled solutions a plus

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for pilot plant bioprocess equipment including bioreactors, chromatography skids, TFF/UF/DF systems, cleaning systems, and single-use and stainless-steel equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues, lead or support root cause analysis, and implement solutions to improve performance and reliability.
• Identify and mitigate equipment risks, drive proactive improvements using data and trends.
• Apply engineering fundamentals to assess and resolve issues across thermodynamics, fluid systems, piping, electrical systems, and process controls.
• Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Instrumentation, Facilities, and Process Development to resolve issues and deliver improvements.
• Lead or support small engineering projects with priorities, execution, and cross-functional coordination.
• Identify opportunities to use digital tools and AI to improve troubleshooting and workflow efficiency.
• Maintain a consistent onsite presence and participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
