Job summary

Lilly in Goochland County, Virginia, seeks a Sr. Principal Bioprocess Engineer to support a new manufacturing facility startup and ongoing operations at GMP standards. The role emphasizes right‑first‑time startup, process safety, and cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities include defining the readiness plan, PQ strategy, and tech transfer, plus driving continuous improvement and qualification throughout the facility lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Process, Chemical, Biochemical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of process team experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, preferably monoclonal antibody manufacturing.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States full-time. Lilly will not sponsor visas.

Responsibilities

• Provide Process Engineering support to Global Facility Delivery for startup and ongoing operations.
• Define and own Operational Readiness Plan elements (SOPs, maintenance, automation, MES/EBR, alarms, PQ protocols).
• Own the PQ strategy and execution for the area of responsibility.
• Assist initial Operations Training as Equipment/Area SME.
• Lead or support tech transfer of new processes into the facility.
• Provide ongoing process engineering support post-startup.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for equipment and processes.
• Apply root cause analysis to investigate issues and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor equipment performance to maintain qualification and safety basis.
• Develop and implement unit operation and equipment control strategies.
