Job summary

MU Health Care in Columbia, MO is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician III for on-site work in the Clinical Engineering department at University Hospital. The role focuses on advanced troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and project leadership for complex medical equipment and systems.

You will lead safety inspections, manage installations, and mentor junior technicians while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree (or equivalent) in biomedical equipment technology, electronics, computer science, or related field, or equivalent education/experience.
• Seven (7) years of experience as a biomedical equipment technician or radiology equipment specialist.
• CBET or CRES certification may substitute for one year of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Leads troubleshooting and technical support for medical equipment users to determine root causes of failure.
• Establishes standards and protocols for test methods and equipment performance criteria.
• Manages calibration and maintenance of complex medical equipment systems to meet regulatory standards.
• Oversees safety inspections and initiates required services for high-risk equipment.
• Manages system installations, planning, scheduling, and oversight of contractors and vendors.
• Oversees asset management, including maintenance scheduling and parts inventory tracking.
• Documents work in CMMS to maintain accurate service records.
