Job summary

GHD in Central California is hiring a Senior Biologist to lead a team of natural resources scientists, environmental planners, and engineers. The role involves mentoring staff, contributing to proposals, and managing scopes of work and budgets across remediation and restoration projects.

The ideal candidate has extensive NEPA/CEQA experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and the ability to develop client relationships while growing the GHD brand in the natural resources space.

Qualifications

• MS in Natural Resources, Biology, Wildlife Biology, Fisheries, or related degree.
• 12 years of proven field experience in natural resources surveys/assessments.
• 10 years in environmental consulting and 6 years of full-cycle project management.
• Current USFWS 10(a)(1)(A) Permits and CDFW MOUs for wildlife or fisheries preferred.
• Certified Wildlife Scientist or similar certification is a bonus.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Responsibilities

• Lead client relations, scheduling work, scopes of work, and budgets.
• Provide technical oversight of report preparation, QA/QC, and project coordination.
• Proposal development including scope and fees.
• Develop project mitigation and supervising strategies and plans.
• Apply regulatory knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements.
• Coordinate permits with NRIA team and support critical initiatives.
• Serve as primary contact with clients for guidance on natural resource issues.
• Build relationships with strategic clients in the professional community.
• Grow GHD's brand as an authority in natural resources; stay current with tech and ideas.
• Support field efforts, including long days and travel.
