Job summary

AbbVie in North Chicago is seeking a Senior Scientist II to lead LCMS-based characterization and bioanalysis for novel biologics within QTAS. You will operate LC/MS instruments, develop methods, and drive data interpretation and reporting.

The role includes mentoring a small team, collaborating with cross-functional groups, evaluating new in vitro tools, and applying AI-driven approaches to deepen understanding of biophysical properties of biologics.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biological Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or related field with 4+ years pharma/biotech bioanalytical experience; or BS/MS with 10+ years in biologics characterization/bioanalysis.
• Deep understanding of LC-MS methodology for proteins; hands-on with QQQ, TOF, Orbitrap platforms.
• Experience with quantitative bioanalysis and in vitro stability assays.
• Ability to manage and analyze data using the listed software tools; strong publication record.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership for a small team.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain LC/MS instruments to generate high-quality data.
• Perform affinity purification of biologics and characterize stability.
• Analyze data and document studies in electronic lab notebooks; present data as needed.
• Support method development for quantitative bioanalysis and in vivo stability assessments.
• Mentor/ supervise team of 2–3 scientists; liaise with cross-functional groups.
