Job summary

The Mount Sinai Medical Center is seeking a Bioinformatician II to partner with researchers in Genomics and Genomic Sciences on innovative analyses of structural variation, epigenetics and gene expression. You will lead projects and deliver bioinformatics services for biomedical data from cutting-edge genomic technologies.

You will also build and support the Varimpact database, enabling search and highlight of genetic variants, drugs and diseases across millions of abstracts and texts.

Qualifications

• MS in Bioinformatics, Biomedical Informatics, Computational Biology, or Genomics; PhD preferred.
• 2+ years post-graduate experience in a research environment with large biological datasets.
• Advanced knowledge of genetics and statistics software; experience with Matlab, R, Bioconductor, Perl, and C++.

Responsibilities

• Develops and may lead a variety of bioinformatics analysis projects, including development of Varimpact.
• Writes custom scripts for analysis of genomic data derived from high-throughput techniques.
• Manages databases, conducts statistical and genomic analysis, and participates in manuscript and presentation preparation.
• Collaborates with wet-bench biologists and analyzes data from various projects using microarrays and high-throughput sequencing.
• Conducts analysis of microarray and sequencing data, genome sequence analysis, experimental design and statistical analysis.
• Performs quality control and analysis.
• Other related duties as assigned.
