Job summary

MSD is seeking a Senior Bioanalytical Scientist in Gaithersburg, MD to provide technical guidance on sample analysis, method validation, and regulatory-compliant studies. You will oversee projects, manage resources, and mentor staff in a high-throughput GLP/GCLP setting.

Candidates should have extensive lab experience, strong immunoassay expertise, and a track record of leading teams while ensuring data integrity and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biology or Chemistry preferred.
• Postdoctoral or industrial experience preferred.
• Master’s degree with 3+ years of related experience may be considered.
• Bachelor’s degree with more experience and 6+ years hands-on work accepted.
• Minimum of 6 years hands-on laboratory work.
• Minimum of 8 years overall experience in progressively responsible roles.
• Experience with immunoassays/ligand-binding assays required.
• Experience running assays on the MSD platform.
• BSL-2 training/experience required.
• GLP/GCLP training/experience required.
• Experience in high-complexity/high-throughput lab settings.
• 2+ years supervisory/mentoring experience required.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple sample analysis and method validation projects in GLP/GCLP contexts.
• Plan and oversee experiments for each project.
• Ensure resources (reagents, materials, equipment) are available.
• Approve documentation including data analysis and reporting.
• Provide technical guidance to bioanalytical staff.
• Interpret and present study results to management.
• Mentor junior team members as needed.
• Verify data accuracy and protocol adherence.
• Draft study plans and project reports.
• Monitor inventory to prevent study delays.
