Job summary

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) in Chicago seeks a BIM Specialist to develop and maintain the BIM Management Plan, collaborating with the Project Engineer and Digital Design Coordinator. You will create, manage, and coordinate BIM models and drawings for structural components, ensuring quality and adherence to standards.

You will lead BIM technology implementation, mentor staff, and help advance BIM workflow practices while supporting data management and project deadlines.

Qualifications

• Six or more years of professional experience in Revit to document structural information.
• Strong attention to detail in model-building and data-organization.
• Ability to coordinate complex BIM/Revit models and assemble drawing deliverables.
• Experience delivering drawing packages at multiple levels of detail and project stages.
• Proactive collaboration within project teams and clear internal communication.
• Familiar with BIM workflows, standards, and data management.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains the BIM Management Plan in collaboration with Project Engineer.
• Collaborates with Project Digital Design Coordinator to create BMP for each project.
• Creates, develops, and manages BIM models and drawings for structural components.
• Coordinates BIM model management with other disciplines.
• Monitors BIM models for quality and content throughout delivery milestones.
• Oversees BIM standards, guidelines, and data flow with Revit and schedules.
• Leads implementation of BIM technology and R&D.
• Provides CAD/drawing support as required.
• Develops firmwide BIM standards and drawing graphic standards.
