Job summary

Citi in Tampa, FL is seeking a Senior Big Data Developer to design, build, and scale high-performance data platforms that drive critical business decisions. You will lead complex data engineering across teams using Java, Confluent Kafka, Flink, and OpenShift/Kubernetes.

You’ll mentor mid-level developers, define coding standards, and ensure regulatory data governance. This role demands hands-on delivery of large-scale pipelines and a strong focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on software or application development with big data engineering focus.
• Deep expertise in Java development for large-scale data applications.
• Hands-on experience with Confluent Kafka and Apache Flink (or Spark Streaming) for real-time data.
• Experience deploying and managing applications in Kubernetes and ECS/OpenShift environments.
• Strong understanding of container orchestration, pod lifecycles, and resource allocation.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable big data pipelines and distributed systems with Java and Kafka for real-time processing.
• Architect data solutions aligned to enterprise standards for reliability and performance.
• Deploy and manage containerized big data workloads in ECS/OpenShift and Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with product teams to enable new capabilities and process improvements.
• Mentor mid-level developers and ensure timely delivery with quality standards.
• Ensure solutions meet regulatory, compliance, and data governance requirements.
