Job summary

HarperCollins Christian Publishing seeks a Senior Acquisitions Editor to lead the acquisition and editorial/product development of Bible study resources. This role will oversee new titles from Pub Board acceptance through editorial process to printer-ready files.

Preference for Nashville, TN or Grand Rapids, MI; travel may be required. Requires 7–8 years in acquisitions/editorial work and a BA in Humanities/English/Journalsim/Theology (MA preferred).

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of Bible study market and Christian books.
• 7–8 years of editorial acquisitions experience or equivalent publishing background.
• BA in Humanities, English, Journalism, or Theology; MA preferred.
• Strong editorial and writing skills; familiarity with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Actively acquire 12–14 titles per year aligned with strategy and financial goals.
• Oversee editorial development and manage author relationships and projects.
• Lead negotiations with authors/agents within financial benchmarks.
• Coordinate with editorial, marketing, and creative teams across departments.
• Manage title packaging, cataloging, and timely delivery to printers.
• Mentor junior editorial staff and represent HCR in industry events.
