A small but fast-growing health tech company is currently hiring a Senior BI Engineer to join its analytics engineering team. This company operates at the intersection of healthcare and data, building analytics products that help government agencies and hospital systems make sense of complex billing, claims, and administrative datasets. This is not a patient-care data role—it's focused on building scalable data tools that give users the ability to explore and understand their own data through a common analytics model.

This is a product-building position. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys building tools and features from scratch and who thrives in smaller, fast-moving environments.

Ideal background:

• 7–8 years of experience in BI or analytics engineering roles.
• At least 3 years of recent, hands-on experience working with healthcare-related data (claims, billing, EHR, etc.).
• Strong SQL skills – writing raw SQL (not just drag-and-drop or visual SQL builders). Postgres is preferred, but SQL Server experience is also acceptable.
• Ability to write scripts in any common language (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Go, etc.).
• Solid understanding of the full software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, product design, testing, and maintenance.

What the role involves:

• SQL development (30%): writing complex queries to support the analytics product.
• User experience + feature building (30%): helping build out user-facing data interaction layers.
• Research + data analysis (40%): investigating problems and building data-driven solutions.
• Supporting ongoing development of a scalable analytics platform used across multiple clients.
• Working closely with a technical team lead and two other senior engineers in a collaborative environment.

Team structure:

This position sits within the Analytics team, which is part of the broader Engineering department. The team is small, collaborative, and highly technical. The Team Lead helps guide technical decisions and provides day-to-day structure and support. The company has a flat structure and values strong communication, ownership, and independent thinking.
