Job summary

AbbVie seeks a qualified BI engineer to design end-to-end Power BI dashboards and semantic models translating complex operational data into actionable insights for leaders and teams.

You will gather requirements with stakeholders, define success criteria, and implement KPIs. You will build data models from multiple sources, write optimized SQL, validate results, and support deployment with user training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 5 years technical experience or Master's degree plus 4 years experience
• Experience in DAX and Power Query for data transformation
• Experience with SQL—complex queries with joins, CTEs, aggregations
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and data models
• Experience documenting technical designs, KPI definitions, and data architecture
• Strong attention to detail and data validation
• Ability to work with stakeholders, IT, and end users to gather requirements

Responsibilities

• Design and develop end-to-end Power BI dashboards and semantic models translating data into insights
• Gather requirements and document scope, success criteria, and edge cases
• Develop KPIs and performance metrics for visibility and decision-making
• Build semantic data models integrating data from Redshift and enterprise systems
• Write and optimize SQL (Redshift-compatible) for ETL
• Create and document design specs and source-of-truth for dashboards
• Coordinate validation and UAT with stakeholders
• Support dashboard deployment and user training
• Explore AI/automation for continuous improvement opportunities
