AbbVie in Chicago seeks a Senior BI Analyst to design and deliver advanced Power BI dashboards and semantic data models. You will translate business needs into technical specifications, build KPIs, and integrate data from Redshift, ODBC, and ERP systems.

Collaboration with stakeholders and IT is essential for reliable analytics and user enablement. The role emphasizes data accuracy, scalability, and opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement in operations.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of technical experience or Master's plus 4 years; up to 9 years in related roles.
• Strong experience with DAX for measures and calculations and Power Query for transformations.
• Proficient in SQL with complex queries, joins, CTEs, and date filtering.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical specs and scalable data models.

Responsabilidades

• Design and develop end-to-end Power BI dashboards and semantic models for leadership and operations.
• Gather requirements with stakeholders and document scope, success criteria, and edge cases.
• Develop KPIs and performance metrics to improve operational visibility and decision-making.
• Build semantic data models integrating Redshift, ODBC, and ERP data sources.
• Write and optimize Redshift-compatible SQL for ETL and analytics workflows.
• Create design specifications and ensure dashboards are source-of-truth across teams.
• Coordinate requirements validation and UAT with stakeholders and iterate on prototypes.
• Support dashboard deployment, connectivity troubleshooting, and end-user training.
• Leverage AI and emerging tech to identify continuous improvement opportunities.

Job Description

Provides direct support to an assigned area. Applies relevant principles to support projects and ongoing activities. Completes tasks which support a project or functional team.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop end-to-end Power BI dashboards and semantic models that translate complex operational data into actionable insights for leadership and operations teams; create PBIP projects with advanced features including calculated tables, relationships, DAX measures, and data validation logic.
• Conduct requirements gathering and translate business needs into functional and technical specifications, working directly with stakeholders to document scope, success criteria, and edge cases; document design decisions and architectural patterns for model maintainability.
• Develop KPIs and performance metrics that drive operational visibility and decision-making.
• Build and maintain semantic data models that integrate data from multiple sources (Redshift, ODBC connections, enterprise systems).
• Write and optimize complex SQL (Redshift-compatible) to extract, transform, and stage data for analytics.
• Create and document design specifications and requirement documents that serve as source-of-truth for dashboard actionable insights for leadership and operations teams.
• Conduct requirements gathering and translate business needs into functional and technical specifications, working directly with stakeholders to document scope, success criteria, and edge cases; document design decisions and architectural patterns for model maintainability.
• Perform requirement validation and UAT coordination - gather stakeholder feedback on prototypes, incorporate design iterations, and validate that delivered dashboards meet acceptance criteria.
• Support dashboard deployment and user enablement - publish to production environments, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and provide training and documentation to end users.
• Leverage AI and emerging technologies to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities, enhance efficiency and decision-making, and support innovation in alignment with business priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree plus 5 years technical experience, or Masters degree plus 4 years experience. Will consider 9 years work experience in related technical roles.
• Experience in DAX (defining measures, calculated columns, filters, context transitions) and Power Query (M language) for data transformation
• Experience with SQL - ability to write complex queries with joins, CTEs, aggregations, and date-based filtering
• Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and design data models that support reporting and analytics
• Experience documenting technical designs, KPI definitions, and data architecture for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Strong attention to detail and ability to validate data accuracy and reconcile reporting against source systems
• Ability to work collaboratively with business stakeholders, IT teams, and end users to gather requirements and communicate trade-offs

Additional Nice-to-have:

• Knowledge of dimensional modeling (fact and dimension tables, data granularity)
• Experience building dashboards for operations, supply chain, inventory management, or procurement domains.
• Experience in enterprise ERP systems (Maximo, SAP, Oracle) and their data structures.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
