Job summary

Trova is seeking a hands-on senior BI Platform Architect to own the design integrity of our BI environment—the gold layer of our data warehouse, the semantic models powering Power BI and Fabric, and the DAX/reporting standards our team uses.

This builder and standard-bearer role does not manage headcount; you guide two offshore consultants and set technical direction in partnership with Data Engineering and the BI manager.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing and building relational and dimensional data models for reporting (Kimball).
• Expert-level T-SQL: complex queries, views, stored procedures, performance tuning.
• 5+ years of Power BI development: semantic models, DAX, performance tuning.
• 5+ years with Power BI Datasets / SSAS Tabular, including RLS/OLS.
• Hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience and judgment on Import/Direct Lake usage.
• Experience with deployment pipelines, Git, and workspace lifecycle management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to produce technical docs.

Responsibilities

• Own the gold (reporting) layer of the Enterprise Data Warehouse and write/optimize the SQL for facts and dims.
• Design, own, and tune Tabular semantic models in Power BI Premium and Fabric.
• Establish BI development standards and review cadence; tune complex measures and reports.
• Provide technical direction to offshore consultants and ensure quality/pl adoption of platform standards.
• Lead deployment planning, rollback procedures, validation criteria, and postmortems; coordinate with BI manager.
• Ensure HIPAA/compliance posture and audit readiness via activity logs and usage metrics.
• Contribute technical input to platform direction and multi-year roadmap alongside BI manager.
• Gather reporting requirements from stakeholders and translate to models and effort estimates.
