Hydrogen Group seeks a Senior BESS Engineer for utility-scale battery energy storage system sizing in Juno Beach, FL. The role focuses on sizing, optimization, and technology evaluation for 12-month contracts and involves developing tools and processes for engineering workflows.

Ideal candidates will have a strong background in electrical engineering and experience with AC/DC sizing, battery degradation and power electronics, plus proficiency in Python, Excel/VBA and Power BI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering field.
• Strong knowledge of BESS sizing and system optimization.
• Understanding of AC and DC sizing methodologies.
• Knowledge of battery degradation, system losses and thermal effects.
• Experience with PCS/inverters and power electronics.
• Experience evaluating energy storage technologies and performance.
• Proven analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to translate engineering requirements into practical solutions.
• Experience with engineering automation and digital tool development.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise for utility-scale BESS sizing and optimization.
• Develop end-to-end BESS sizing from interconnection to DC systems and batteries.
• Incorporate technical and contractual requirements into sizing calculations.
• Develop and improve sizing methodologies, calculators and guidance.
• Maintain records of sizing assumptions and results.
• Review results and identify optimization opportunities and risks.
• Maintain BESS and PCS equipment data for sizing tools.
• Evaluate existing and emerging battery technologies.
• Analyze battery performance characteristics and degradation.
• Develop preliminary system sizing and cost estimates.
• Create automated tools for BESS sizing, forecasting and workflows.
• Apply data analytics and AI approaches in engineering tasks.

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or a related discipline
