Job summary

Urban Grid is seeking a Sr. Manager/Director, BESS Development to lead technical and commercial development of utility-scale battery storage projects in a hybrid Houston office. You will define architectures, oversee equipment selection, and drive supplier negotiations through diligence and financial close.

You will partner with Construction, Procurement, Interconnection, Offtake, and OEM teams to optimize projects, manage risks, and ensure execution readiness in a fast-changing energy market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years direct utility-scale (>50 MW) BESS development experience.
• Experience supporting project finance due diligence and lender reviews.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical aspects of standalone and hybrid BESS development from early-stage through construction.
• Coordinate technical inputs into financial models and supplier evaluations.
• Define system configurations: AC/DC, storage duration, power/energy sizing, EMS topology, and safety measures.
• Negotiate supplier and EPC terms; manage procurement bid processes and total lifecycle costs.
• Ensure ITC, FEOC, and domestic content compliance with legal teams and lenders.
• Partner with Construction, Commercial, Procurement, and Asset teams to align on project decisions.
