Job summary

3E is seeking a Benefits & Payroll Specialist to own day-to-day U.S. benefits administration and support multi-state payroll with an eye for accuracy and compliance. You will collaborate with HR, Finance, and external partners to streamline processes and ensure precise benefits and payroll operations.

The role emphasizes hands-on administration of benefits programs, 401(k) administration, and ongoing process improvements while maintaining strict regulatory compliance and data integrity.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of HR experience with a focus on U.S. benefits, payroll, and compliance.
• 4+ years of hands-on U.S. benefits administration, including 401(k).
• 3+ years of U.S. multi-state payroll experience.
• Working knowledge of U.S. payroll, benefits, and leave regulations.
• Experience managing vendor relationships.
• Strong attention to detail, accountability, and independent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Based in the US in one of the states where 3E is authorized to hire, and eligible to work without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day administration of U.S. benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), and more).
• Manage enrollments, changes, and carrier bill reconciliations; investigate discrepancies.
• Administer the U.S. 401(k) plan, including inquiries, recordkeeper coordination, annual testing and audits.
• Support benefits renewals and open enrollment, U.S. leave programs, and workers' compensation administration.
• Partner with payroll provider to support accurate U.S. multi-state and Canadian payroll.
• Review payroll inputs, reports, deductions, and outputs; resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate state/provincial registrations and tax setup; support year-end activities, reconciliations, audits, and filings.
• Serve as primary contact for payroll and benefits vendors; own questions through resolution.
• Maintain ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA reporting compliance.
• Provide responsive employee support via HR ticketing system.
• Partner with HR and Finance to maintain data, inputs, deductions, and documentation.
• Maintain SOPs and internal controls; identify reporting, reconciliation, process, and system improvements.
• Support additional HR operations or generalist activities as needed.
