Job Description

CTG is seeking to fill a Senior Benefits Consultant opening for our client in Pleasanton, CA.

Location: Remote

Duration: 5 months

Duties:
  1. Support the strategic direction, administration, and vendor oversight of all U.S. Health Care Benefits, including Medical, Prescription Drug, Dental, Vision, and Retiree Medical plans.
  2. Set priorities to ensure high-performing vendor partnerships that enhance the employee experience.
  3. Ensure compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, and other applicable regulations related to group insurance plans.
  4. Collaborate with legal and external resources to stay current with legislation affecting health benefits and implement required changes.
  5. Partner on the development and execution of benefit communications to drive awareness, engagement, and compliance.
  6. Lead annual and ongoing health benefits initiatives, collaborating with the broader Total Rewards team.
  7. Drive continuous improvement efforts by streamlining processes, identifying cost savings, and proposing innovative program enhancements.
Key Areas of Focus:
Vendor and Plan Management
  1. Lead vendor relationships and manage budgets with all Health Care Plan Vendors (e.g., UnitedHealthcare, Surest, Kaiser, OptumRx, VSP, Via Benefits).
  2. Monitor vendor performance through regular status meetings, reviews, and audits.
  3. Identify trends and opportunities to improve employee health outcomes and reduce costs.
  4. Partner with Procurement on RFP/RFI processes and lead new vendor implementations as needed.
Project Management
  1. Co-manage implementation of new benefit plans or changes, especially during Annual Enrollment.
  2. Act as Subject Matter Expert for benefits communications and educational materials.
  3. Serve as the primary contact for health plan audits and compliance controls.
  4. Manage special projects as assigned.
Skills:
  • Strong strategic thinking and innovation capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to drive collaboration across teams and lead complex initiatives independently.
  • Skilled in process mapping and efficiency improvements.
  • Proven multi-tasking and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Employee Benefits, with a focus on Health Care Plan administration.
  • Experience with vendor management, benefits compliance, and project leadership is essential.
Education:
  • BA/BS in a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
