Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist III (Counseling) for the Dual Diagnosis Services unit at the San Angelo State Supported Living Center, CARLSBAD, TX. The role focuses on counseling services, assessment, and treatment planning for individuals with intellectual disabilities or behavioral needs.

Responsibilities include developing counseling plans, staff training, and ensuring compliant documentation.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, education, or applied behavior analysis.

Responsibilities

• Attends work regularly and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or rotating schedule, including extended shifts/overtime.
• Conducts clinical assessments and ensures development and approval of counseling plans to meet individuals’ needs.
• Develops or assists in behavioral health service plans, including psychiatric support plans and skill acquisition plans under supervision.
• Participates in training staff in counseling and behavioral health services, including trauma-related topics.
• Monitors and evaluates counseling plans for effective implementation.
• Provides documentation to reflect treatment responses and progress.

Education

Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, education, or applied behavior analysis
