Job summary
UT-Battelle’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory is seeking a Beam Instrumentation Physicist to design, implement, operate, and maintain SNS beam instrumentation systems. You will work in the Beam Instrumentation Group within the Accelerator Science and Technology Section, contributing to upgrades and new developments for SNS.
The role requires deep knowledge of beam instrumentation, accelerator physics, and software development, with hands-on electronics hardware experience and a willingness to work
Qualifications
- PhD or MS+experience in accelerator science or related field.
- Experience in design, research and development of accelerator systems.
- Extensive knowledge of beam instrumentation and/or accelerator physics.
- Experience in software development.
- Working knowledge of electronics hardware.
Responsibilities
- Supports operation and ownership of SNS beam instrumentation hardware, firmware, and software.
- Develops beam study plans to improve instrumentation performance.
- Represents results at conferences, workshops, and in SNS notes and journals.
- Contributes to group goals, planning, and policy development; assists with graduate student work.
- Ensures compliance with ESH&Q programs including ISMS.
- Provides operational support for accelerator systems with occasional off-hours required.
