Caterpillar’s Integrated Drivetrain and Energy Solution Division (IDES) has an exciting position as a Battery Systems Senior Design Engineer supporting the Battery Packs team. As a Senior Design Engineer, you will design, analyze, build, and implement new battery systems, components, or technologies into rail and marine customer applications.

What You Will Do includes owning the top-level system design, providing guidance for interfaces, cooling, and high-voltage connections, and collaborating

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (accredited)
• Analytical thinking and root-cause analysis
• Effective communication of ideas and needs
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives and priorities
• Strong technical excellence and problem-solving in engineering contexts
• CAD/Engineering tools proficiency for design, analysis, testing
• Knowledge of product design and development from concept to production

Responsibilities

• Design battery systems and integrate battery packages into customer applications
• Apply robust problem solving to resolve and improve designs
• Evaluate designs using structural/thermal simulations
• Assist in procurement and build of system hardware and document improvements
• Develop application & integration guides and disassembly/assembly procedures for customers
• Collaborate with manufacturing and purchasing to select suppliers and implement APQP
• Support other teams to meet product requirements and schedules
• Contribute to battery system development, FMEAs and risk assessments
• Protect Caterpillar’s intellectual property
