Job summary

EOS Energy Enterprises seeks a Materials and Failure Analysis Engineer to own the incoming materials quality program and lead root-cause investigations into battery failures. The role spans materials, electrochemistry, mechanical/electrical engineering, and manufacturing quality, interfacing with supply chain, R&D, and field service to protect performance, safety, and customer trust.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in materials science, electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years in failure analysis, reliability or quality engineering, preferably in batteries or electromechanical systems.
• Hands-on failure analysis techniques including electrical/electrochemical tests, microscopy, thermal analysis, or X-ray/CT imaging.

Responsibilities

• Lead RCFA on battery modules and systems from triage to corrective action.
• Design teardown, inspection, and testing protocols for failed units.
• Apply analytical techniques to identify failure modes and mechanisms.
• Collaborate with R&D, suppliers, and manufacturing to close the loop on improvements.
• Develop and maintain FMEA documentation for cells, modules, and systems.
• Track failure trends and build dashboards to communicate findings to leadership.
• Support supplier quality investigations for component-level failures.
• Own incoming parts quality and inspection processes with sampling criteria.
• Investigate rejects and drive CAPA with suppliers and sourcing.
• Contribute to safety investigations and document findings for regulatory needs.
• Author well-documented failure analysis reports for cross-functional stakeholders.
• Help build failure analysis lab capabilities, tooling, and SOPs.
