Job summary

Honda Development & Manufacturing of America seeks a Senior Battery Management Systems (BMS) Engineer in Raymond, OH. You will design battery control software parameters, charge balance algorithms, and ECU architectures for electric and hybrid vehicles.

You will collaborate with global teams, validate on bench setups and EV prototypes, and lead multi-discipline deliverables while meeting tight deadlines. This role requires hands-on hardware/software validation and a strong engineering background.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Chemical Engineering.
• 3+ years of automotive engineering experience, specifically in BMS, battery packs, or EV/HEV powertrains.
• Proficiency with automotive testing software and communication tools (CANalyzer, CAN, LIN, MATLAB).
• Proven track record of managing multi-discipline engineering deliverables to tight deadlines.
• US work authorization without employer sponsorship required.

Responsibilities

• Architect high-voltage Battery Management System (BMS) controls and charge-balancing strategies.
• Define functional ECU requirements, electrical circuit architectures, and software specifications.
• Validate on bench setups, HILS, and EV prototypes.
• Investigate battery system anomalies and engineer permanent countermeasures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect vehicle high-voltage Battery Management System (BMS) controls and charge-balancing strategies.
• Define functional ECU requirements, electrical circuit architectures, and software specifications.
• Execute hands‑on hardware and software validation on bench setups, HILS, and EV prototype vehicles.
• Conduct root cause investigations on battery system anomalies and engineer permanent countermeasures.
• Collaborate with BMS software development teams in Japan and global tier‑1 battery suppliers.
