Job summary

Stellantis in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a Battery Cell Design Innovation Engineer to lead internal Li-ion cell design, materials and electrode development for next‑gen EV batteries. You will design, prototype and test cells and drive performance improvements for automotive applications.

The role requires a BS in Materials or Electrochemistry, 5+ years in R&D or advanced engineering, and expert knowledge in electrochemistry modeling, cell design tools and disruptive cell technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering or Electrochemistry.
• 5+ years of experience in Research or Advanced Engineering.
• Proven experience in electrochemistry modeling and cell internal design tools.
• Experience in disruptive cell technologies.
• Experience in providing technical guidance and direction during supplier technical reviews.
• Proven experience in designing and building lithium-ion battery materials and electrodes.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Cell TRL assessment including performance, cost, safety and LCA.
• Lead a multi-skilled team on cell engineering system design, integration and validation.
• Develop roadmaps for cell electrochemistry technologies.
• Design tools and models for cell internal design and disruptive tech assessment.
• Write papers and patents; manage partner relationships and contracts.
• Supervise PhD students, apprentices, and interns.
