Job summary

TEC Systems is seeking a Senior HVAC Controls System Engineer to lead design phases of building automation projects in New York. You will translate mechanical requirements into detailed control strategies, panel layouts, wiring schematics, and network architectures.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience leading complex HVAC controls designs.
• Strong understanding of building MEP systems and diagnostics.
• Ability to translate architectural/mechanical/electrical drawings into control solutions.

Responsibilities

• Review contract drawings, specifications, proposals, and budgets.
• Develop design schedules and manage engineering deliverables.
• Design DDC control panels, wiring schematics, and system interfaces.
• Create control strategies for HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Design BAS/BMS communication networks and system architecture.
• Develop electrical installation drawings and scopes of work.
• Select control system products and create project bills of materials.
• Document sequences of operations and system performance parameters.
• Collaborate with project managers, field teams, and commissioning staff.
• Provide technical support during installation and startup.
• Ensure designs align with field conditions, constructability, and client expectations.
• Participate in client and contractor coordination meetings.
• Lead design efforts for large and complex projects.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Train, mentor, and oversee junior engineers.
• Establish design standards and best practices.
• Support continuous improvement of engineering processes.
