Job summary

TEC Systems seeks a Building Automation, Control System Design Engineer to support HVAC and BAS/BMS projects from our LIC or Central NJ offices. You will review plans, develop delivery schedules, design DDC/BAS control panels, and specify components.

You will document operations sequences, design BMS networks, prepare wiring diagrams, and develop BOMs. Requires 2+ years as a design engineer, strong electrical/MEP knowledge, and proficiency with AutoCAD and Bluebeam.

Qualifications

• Design Engineer with 2+ years of independent or team project work.
• Understanding of control system basics, electrical circuits, and contract documents.
• Strong organizational and communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing contract plans, specifications, proposals, and budgets.
• Developing design project delivery schedule.
• Designing DDC/BAS/BMS control panels, wiring schematics, and system interfaces.
• Selecting control system products and developing project bill of materials.

Building Automation, Control System Design Engineer

Specializing in HVAC & Building Automation & Control Systems (BAS/BMS)

Reports to: VP of Engineering

Candidates can work out of either our LIC office or our Central NJ office locations

Role Summary

• Reviewing contract plans, specifications, proposals, and budgets.
• Developing design project delivery schedule.
• Designing DDC control panels, wiring schematics, and system interfaces to control building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Selecting control system products and developing project bill of materials.
• Documenting system sequence of operations and operating parameters.
• Designing BMS communication networks.
• Developing electrical installation wiring diagrams and scopes of work.

Qualifications

• Design Engineer: 2+ years of experience. A design engineer works independently on small scale control system designs, or as part of a team on large scale projects.
• Candidate must demonstrate an understanding of all control system basics, electrical and electronic circuits and systems, contract document review, and possess exceptional organizational and communications skills.

Technical Knowledge

• Strong understanding of building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems
• Experience designing DDC/BAS/BMS control systems
• Ability to interpret architectural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and communications drawings
• Knowledge of system integration and building networks

Software Skills
