Job summary

Mercury is building Mercury Bank, a fintech platform, and seeks a Senior Software Engineer for the Banking Integration Platform team. You will be a technical leader and hands-on engineer creating seamless connections between Mercury and external financial systems.

You will own integration with a FFIEC-approved bank core, design clean internal APIs, handle retries and format mismatches, and build data pipelines to keep systems in sync. Strong distributed backend experience required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience integrating modern distributed software systems with older, legacy infrastructure in regulated environments
• Understanding of how banks and banking systems work: accounts, transactions, ledgers, data models
• Product-minded engineer who considers API consumers, not just systems being connected to
• Comfortable with Haskell or willing to learn
• Strong opinions about building reliable, maintainable systems

Responsibilities

• Build integration with an FFIEC-approved bank core and payment networks
• Design internal APIs for simple, consistent interfaces to external systems
• Handle retries, failures, format mismatches, and downtime in enterprise contexts
• Build data pipelines to keep systems in sync with bank core
• Own monitoring, alerting, and recovery for critical external connections
• Partner with multiple teams to define clean boundaries and contracts
• Help shape the technical architecture of Mercury Bank
