Job summary

Mercury is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Banking Integration Platform Team, leading and building seamless connections between Mercury and the outside financial world. You will be a technical leader and hands-on engineer responsible for backend infrastructure, distributed systems, and clean, well-documented APIs.

Qualifications

7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Experience integrating modern distributed systems with legacy infrastructure in regulated environments.
Understanding of bank accounts, transactions, ledgers and data models.
Product-minded engineer focusing on API consumers.
Experience building new systems rather than maintaining existing ones.
Comfort with Haskell or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

Build and operate backend infrastructure and distributed systems at scale.
Design internal APIs with simple, consistent interfaces for product teams.
Handle retries, format mismatches, downtime in enterprise integrations.
Build data pipelines syncing with bank core.
Own monitoring, alerting, and recovery for critical external connections.
Collaborate with multiple teams to define clean boundaries and contracts.
Contribute to Mercury Bank's technical architecture.
