Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company seeks a Mid Backup and Recovery Specialist to optimize enterprise backup and restore workflows within a federal IT environment. Design policies, storage architectures, and recovery processes to align with business continuity objectives.

You will mentor junior staff, analyze performance, coordinate disaster recovery drills, and provide leadership on data protection standards and reporting across hybrid cloud and on‑prem environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 4–7 years in data backup and recovery or related IT roles.
• Proficient in backup and recovery for physical, virtual, and cloud workloads.
• Hands-on experience with Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, CommVault or similar.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills to resolve complex issues independently.
• Experience using monitoring tools and documenting configurations and runbooks.
• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain backup solutions for physical, virtual, and cloud workloads.
• Tune performance, concurrency, bandwidth, and storage tiers to meet RTO/RPO goals.
• Perform complex restore operations and DR exercises.
• Implement backup encryption, key management, and RBAC.
• Document and test disaster recovery runbooks and coordinate drills.
• Integrate backups with monitoring and reporting dashboards for leadership.
• Troubleshoot failures and drive root-cause remediation across the backup environment.
• Mentor junior staff on data protection practices and runbook documentation.
