Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, is seeking a Backup and Recovery Specialist, Mid, to design, implement, and optimize enterprise backup and recovery services within a federal IT environment. You will guide data protection standards, support cloud and on-prem workloads, and mentor junior staff.

The role focuses on policy design, recovery workflows, encryption, and compliance reporting to leadership, ensuring rapid restorations and robust disaster recovery testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4–7 years of data backup and recovery, storage engineering, or related IT roles.
• Proficient understanding of backup and recovery principles for physical, virtual, and cloud workloads.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise backup tools such as Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, CommVault.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to resolve issues independently.
• Experience using monitoring tools and documenting backup configurations, runbooks, and recovery procedures.
• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain and maintain the required investigation level.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain backup solutions for physical, virtual, and cloud workloads.
• Analyze backup infrastructure performance and tune for recovery targets.
• Perform complex restore operations including point-in-time recovery.
• Implement and maintain backup encryption, key management, and RBAC.
• Document and test disaster recovery runbooks and coordinate drills.
• Integrate backup systems with monitoring to provide dashboards and metrics.
• Troubleshoot failures and drive root-cause analysis across backup environment.
• Mentor junior staff on data protection and recovery procedures.
