Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, seeks a Backup and Recovery Specialist, Mid, to optimize enterprise backup and recovery services for federal IT environments. You will design backup policies, storage architectures, and recovery workflows for business continuity and conduct advanced troubleshooting across hybrid on-premises and cloud systems.

You will mentor junior staff, document runbooks, and provide guidance on data protection standards and reporting to leadership.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
4-7 years of experience in data backup and recovery, storage engineering, systems administration, or related IT infrastructure roles.
Proficient understanding of backup and recovery principles and technologies.
Hands-on experience with enterprise backup tools such as Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, CommVault, or similar platforms.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with proven ability to resolve complex backup, storage, and recovery issues independently.
Experience using monitoring tools and documenting backup configurations, runbooks, and recovery procedures.
Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain and maintain the required investigation level.
U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

Architect and maintain backup solutions for physical, virtual, and cloud workloads.
Tune backup infrastructure performance for RTO/RPO targets.
Perform complex restores including point-in-time recovery and DR exercises.
Implement encryption, key management, and RBAC for data protection.
Document and test DR runbooks; coordinate failover drills.
Integrate backups with monitoring dashboards and reports.
Troubleshoot failures and bottlenecks; perform root-cause analysis.
Mentor junior staff on data protection and recovery practices.
