Position Overview

We are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build modern API-driven systems that support the next generation of CMG’s mortgage and homebuying services. This is a senior-level role with responsibility for technical leadership, system design, and mentoring others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES,include, but are not limited to:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs.
• Lead backend architecture discussions and technical decision-making.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Ensure backend systems meet security, reliability, and performance standards.
• Develop and maintain automated tests for backend services.
• Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to team members.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development practices and technical standards.
• Communicate technical challenges and progress clearly to stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of backend development experience, including:

• C#
• WebAPI, Microservices architecture
• Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Azure DevOps

• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Strong understanding of API design principles and development best practices.
• Familiarity with web security standards, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
• Experience with Git and Agile development methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with Azure cloud-native services:

• App Services
• Functions
• SQL Databases
• Service Bus
• Application Insights

• Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Mortgage, fintech, or financial services industry experience is a plus.

PHYSICAL and ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

This role operates in an ADA compliant office environment, utilizing typical office equipment and tasks including computer work. The position may involve partial stationary positions and moving throughout the day. Flexibility to work overtime to meet project deadlines is required.

COMPENSATION:

CMG pays a competitivetotal salarywhich ranges from Entry Level $90,000 to Senior Level $150,000. Factors that affect base salary may include education, skills, years of experience and mortgage industry knowledge.
