Job summary

Vega Federal is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with 8+ years of experience to serve as a technical lead for backend development, complex systems integration, and enterprise API architecture in Richardson, TX. You will guide design, security, and optimization of Broadcom Layer 7 API Gateways and high-performance Java services.

You'll mentor junior engineers in an Agile federal environment while ensuring compliance with security standards and DoD requirements, including TS clearance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering focused on backend Java architecture and integration.
• Hands-on Broadcom Layer 7 API Gateway experience in enterprise environments.
• Active TS clearance prior to start and US citizenship.
• Active CompTIA Security+ certification.
• Strong Java, Linux scripting, API design, and network security knowledge.
• Willingness to work on-site in Richardson, TX or relocation.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and optimize backend services and integration pipelines in Java.
• Lead Layer 7 API Gateway configuration, policy authoring, and architecture.
• Design Linux automation, deployment scripts, and CI/CD workflows.
• Implement end-to-end network security, OAuth2, SAML, JWT, mTLS, certificates.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship in Agile teams.
