Job summary

Toyota Financial Services (TFS) in Plano, TX is seeking a Senior Manager - Software Engineering (Backend) to lead a high-performing team delivering scalable, resilient systems on AWS. You will own backend architecture, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product and frontend teams to ship secure, reliable platforms.

This role requires 10+ years in software, 3+ years in leadership, and deep AWS serverless expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend or full-stack focus.
• 3+ years in an engineering management or tech lead role.
• Deep expertise in serverless architectures on AWS including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB or Aurora Serverless, Step Functions, EventBridge/SQS/SNS, and S3.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python for backend services.
• Experience designing RESTful and GraphQL APIs with proper API contract design.

Responsibilities

• Lead, grow, and retain a team of full-stack and backend engineers.
• Own the backend architecture and technical direction for your domain.
• Drive engineering excellence through code quality standards and API design conventions.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Front-End Engineering to deliver features from concept to production.
• Champion system reliability, observability, and security as core concerns.
• Collaborate to optimize CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and cloud cost management.
• Communicate technical tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders.
